Ukraine, EU agree on simplified visa regime: TarasiukUkraine and the European Union have come to an agreement concerning a simplified visa regime. Foreign minister Borys Tarasiuk made the announcement on Tuesday.

Accordingly, the procedure for Ukrainians to secure Schengen visas will be simplified and fees will be waved for certain visa categories. EU consulates will also be required to provide reasons for refusing visas. Official Kyiv hopes that the simplified visa regime will be enacted during the Ukraine-EU summit that will take place on October 27 in Helsinki. Tarasiuk also expressed hopes that the Rada will soon pass the so-called WTO bills and that Ukraine will become a member of the transnational trade body by the end of the year.
